My most beautiful model

My most beautiful model

As outlined in relevant blog postings, in recent years I’ve discovered the joys of working with various models to create a particular image.  Almost to my own astonishment I’ve found that I love the interaction with a model that is part of the creative process.  This is especially the case because my family are a bit tired of being my photographic subjects!  So although I am very glad to be married to my most beautiful model, she is – understandably, after all these years – mostly rather reluctant to pose for me, often protesting if I point a lens in her direction.  As for my teenage son… there are prizes on offer to any photographer who manages to capture a semi-decent image of him!

This means that I have increasingly directed my attention to photographing other people, and have learnt from and enjoyed photographing models (friends and acquaintances in part).  In particular, my friend Stephanie Tait has become my photographic muse: although she now lives on the other side of the world and only occasionally returns to Scotland, when thinking of photographic projects necessitating a model, she is invariably the first person I think of and want to photograph, even if that is not practical given our respective locations.  Her incredible patience as well as her openness to some of my crazier ideas will be evident from the galleries here.  I have written about this in more detail in a blog posting entitled Musings on my muse.

Of course, these galleries show just some of the images that I have created as my engagement with different models has developed.  There are personal commissions that I have been involved in – such as parent-baby images – that are not represented here.  However, if you like what you see here and would be interested in being photographed for personal images, do contact me.  Equally, if you would like to model for me, I’d be very glad to hear from you.
